"it's just a ride, it's just a ride. no need to run, no need to hide.'

i was having one of those days - you know things are just not going right - and i heard this song by jem. it's called "just a ride" and it immediately transformed my mood and outlook.

music has a way of doing that. what songs lift your mood? if you haven't already, put together a list of those songs and play them regularly. tempo and lyrics are equally important when compiling the list. it's not helpful if the songs have a great tempo but the lyrics are about loss and sadness.

here are two songs from my personal playlist (both from the same artist - coincidently):

the fight within

an old cherokee indian was speaking to his grandson: "a fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. one is evil--he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. the other is good -- he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. this same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too." the grandson thought about it for a long minute, and then asked his grandfather, "which wolf will win?" the old cherokee simply replied, "the one you feed."
